Classes at Oak Park Elementary joined many across the country as children experienced "Reading Across America". The love of reading begins when you take time to read to a child, and we were so fortunate to have community members, staff and former staff make time to read to our children. A big THANKS to all who participated!

The Laurel School District Elementary Speech and Debate League recently held its last competition of the year. The league focuses on developing the oral, written and critical thinking skills of fourth and fifth grade students. Teams from all four elementary schools provide students the opportunity for competition and skills development.

The Laurel School District will host a Title I Family Night on Thursday, March 23, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room located at 303 West 8th Street. Congratulations to Mrs. Addae our "Teacher of the Year"!!! Mrs. Addae has been teaching for eight year, three of which have been right here at Oak Park. Something many may not know about her is that she is a real life princess. Mr. Addae is a prince from Ghana, and when she said "I do" to him, she became a princess.
